Types of Bolt Heaters
- High-Density Cartridge Bolt Heaters: These are electrical resistance heating elements, typically rod-shaped, inserted into the hollow core of a stud bolt. They provide intense, rapid, and uniform heat through a high-resistance nickel-chromium wire, often sheathed in materials like Inconel or stainless steel to resist corrosion. They may feature insulated handles for safety.
- Flexible Bolt Heaters: These are resistance-based heating elements designed to be bendable (up to 180°) to fit in tight spaces or around bolts with limited overhead clearance. They function similarly to cartridge heaters by heating the bolt from the inside out and are particularly useful during turbine maintenance and in petrochemical facilities.
