The installation of an ESP hopper heater depends on its physical construction. Because these heaters must withstand high temperatures and vibration, they are typically fitted using one of the following mechanical or adhesive methods:
 
1. Metal Clad / Modular Heaters (Stud-Welding)
This is the most common method for heavy-duty industrial ESPs.
  • Stud-Welding: Threaded studs are welded directly to the outside of the hopper wall.
  • Mounting: The heater panel has pre-drilled holes that slide over these studs and are secured with nuts and washers.
  • Contact: It is crucial that the heater sits perfectly flush against the hopper surface to ensure efficient heat transfer.
    2. Silicone Rubber Heaters (Adhesive)
    Used for flexible applications or where a low profile is needed.
    • Pressure Sensitive Adhesive (PSA): Many units come with a "peel-and-stick" backing for easy application on smooth, cleaned surfaces.
    • Field-Applied RTV: For a stronger, permanent bond, a thin layer of Room Temperature Vulcanizing (RTV) silicone adhesive is spread on the heater before it is rolled onto the surface to remove air bubbles.

    3. Fiberglass Heating Pads (Eyelets & Laces)
    These are flexible "blanket" style heaters.
    • Eyelets: The pads often feature metal eyelets along the edges.
    • Tying Laces: They are fitted by wrapping the pad around the hopper or pipe and securing it with high-temperature tying laces or springs.
