
Industrial Composite Curing Oven
Technobel India offers industrial electrical curing ovens designed for composite curing applications, with precise temperature control, uniform air circulation, robust construction, and comprehensive safety interlocks. The oven is designed for high-temperature curing operations up to 400°C and is suitable for heavy-duty industrial applications.
Heating System
The oven is equipped with Kanthal A1 strip heating elements in corrugated formation for efficient and uniform heat generation or incoloy 800 tubular heating elements.
Heating element: Strip Type Kanthal A1; Element formation: Corrugated; Manufacturer: Kanthal, Sweden.
Heaters are installed on the side walls and divided into 3 independent heating zones for improved temperature uniformity and control.
Thermal Insulation
The oven is provided with high-temperature ceramic fibre insulation to minimize heat loss and maintain uniform chamber temperature.
Ceramic fibre module insulation: 250 mm; density: 160 kg/m³; rated temperature: 1260°C; additional ceramic fibre blanket: 25 mm.
Total insulation/lining thickness is approximately 275 mm. Insulation manufacturer: Murugappa Morgan Thermal Ceramics.
Oven Construction
The main oven shell is fabricated from 5 mm thick mild steel plates and reinforced with structural members to ensure mechanical stability during continuous industrial operation.
Four lifting eyes are provided on the top of the oven for convenient handling and installation. Material: Mild Steel; plate thickness: 5 mm.
Door System
The curing oven is provided with two large side-opening doors designed for convenient loading and unloading of composite components.
Features include 5 mm thick MS construction, ceramic fibre insulation, rise-and-fall arrangement, heavy-duty hinges, electromechanical operation, chain and rope mechanism, self-sealing arrangement, pneumatic cylinders, and door limit switches.
The arrangement provides effective sealing and minimizes heat loss during operation.
Door Drive System
Motor capacity: 1 HP; gearbox manufacturer: SEW; drive mechanism: electromechanical; chain and rope operating arrangement.
Temperature Measurement and Control
The oven incorporates multiple temperature measurement points to ensure accurate monitoring and uniform curing conditions.
24 Nos. Type J thermocouple holders; temperature measurement up to 400°C; 4 Nos. air temperature thermocouples; 3 Nos. control thermocouples; 3 Nos. independent over-temperature controls; side-wall thermocouple locations; SHINKO instrumentation/data logging.
Air Circulation System
For uniform temperature distribution, the curing oven is equipped with three independent air circulation systems.
Each system consists of a 5 HP motor, impeller, impeller shaft, stainless steel construction, dynamically balanced impeller and shaft, properly designed air baffles, and controlled airflow distribution.
The system is designed to maintain consistent temperature throughout the working zone and reduce temperature variation during composite curing.
Exhaust and Cooling System
An exhaust damper/blower arrangement is provided for controlled cooling after the curing cycle.
Cooling rate: 1–5°C/min; exhaust chimney: 15 metres; controlled removal of hot air from the chamber.
PLC & SCADA Control System
The curing oven is equipped with a Siemens PLC-based control system with SCADA for automatic process control and monitoring.
System includes digital input/output modules, analog input/output modules, CPU, power supply, memory module, DIN rails, connecting cables, SCADA software, live temperature trends, graphical monitoring, data logging, and printing.
Safety Measures & Interlocks
1. Heating elements cannot be switched ON unless circulation fans are running.
2. Fans cannot be switched ON unless oven doors are closed.
3. Bogie movement is prevented unless doors are fully open.
4. Door limit switches are provided at extreme positions.
5. Independent over-temperature protection switches OFF heating elements during excessive temperature.
6. Flash light and buzzer alarms are provided for furnace over-temperature, motor overload, and thyristor faults.
7. Three independent safety controllers provide excess-temperature protection in case of main controller failure.
8. Door-mounted limit switches automatically cut heater power when the door is opened.
9. Independent thermocouple-based safety protection.
10. Interlocking between fan motor and heater circuits.
11. Motor overload protection.
Heavy-Duty Bogie System
The curing oven is provided with a heavy-duty motorized bogie designed for handling loads up to 17 tonnes.
Construction includes mild steel structural frame, 2 mm thick mild steel bottom plate, 5 mm thick SS304 top inner plate, ceramic fibre insulation, approximately 275 mm thermal insulation lining, heavy-duty wheels, pillow block bearings, suitable rails, motorized movement, and safety interlocks.
The bogie is designed for safe and smooth movement of heavy composite components into and out of the curing chamber.
