PTFE/PFA/Teflon Electrode type level switches
PTFE / PFA / Teflon Electrode Type Level Switches
PTFE, PFA, and Teflon electrode type level switches are precision-designed instruments used for liquid level detection and control in highly corrosive, conductive, and aggressive chemical environments. These switches are extensively applied in industries such as chemical processing, anodizing, electroplating, metal finishing, pharmaceuticals, wastewater treatment, and specialty chemical plants, where conventional metallic level sensors suffer from corrosion, scaling, or electrical failure.
The working principle of an electrode type level switch is based on the conductivity of the liquid. When the liquid level comes into contact with the PTFE/PFA-coated electrode, it completes an electrical circuit through the conductive medium, triggering a relay or control signal. Due to the excellent electrical insulation and
hemical inertness of PTFE and PFA, the electrode remains fully protected from chemical attack while ensuring accurate and repeatable level sensing.
These level switches are ideally suited for strong acids and corrosive solutions such as hydrochloric acid (HCl), sulphuric acid (H₂SO₄), phosphoric acid (H₃PO₄), chromic acid, alkaline solutions, and electroplating electrolytes. The PTFE/PFA sheath provides outstanding resistance to chemical corrosion, high temperatures, and aggressive fumes, ensuring long service life even in harsh operating conditions.
PTFE/PFA electrode level switches are commonly used for high-level, low-level, and pump control applications in process tanks, acid storage vessels, plating baths, and anodizing tanks. Multiple electrodes can be used in a single system for multi-point level control. Their smooth, non-stick surface minimizes fouling, scaling, and buildup, which is especially important in plating and surface treatment baths where deposits are common.
From a safety and reliability perspective, these level switches offer excellent electrical insulation, preventing short circuits and leakage currents in highly conductive liquids. They are compatible with control panels, PLCs, alarms, solenoid valves, and pump starters. The switches can be supplied with PTFE/PFA glands, flanges, or threaded mounts, allowing easy installation and maintenance.
In summary, PTFE / PFA / Teflon electrode type level switches provide a robust, accurate, and corrosion-resistant solution for liquid level detection in aggressive chemical environments. Their reliability, chemical compatibility, and low maintenance requirements make them an essential component in modern chemical, anodizing, and electroplating systems.

PTFE / PFA / Teflon Electrode Type Level Switches
PTFE / PFA / Teflon electrode type level switches are designed for reliable liquid level detection in highly corrosive, conductive, and aggressive chemical environments. These level switches operate on the conductivity principle and are widely used in electroplating, anodizing, metal finishing, chemical processing, pickling lines, and acid storage tanks, where float or mechanical level devices are unsuitable due to corrosion, fouling, or maintenance issues.
Working Principle
The electrode type level switch works by sensing the presence of a conductive liquid between the sensing electrode and a reference electrode (tank wall or separate electrode). When the liquid level touches the PTFE/PFA-coated electrode, it completes an electrical circuit through the liquid, activating a relay output. When the liquid level falls below the electrode, the circuit breaks and the relay resets. This simple and proven principle ensures high reliability and fast response.
